Made for the Straight Natural
Our Name
The Meaning of Opal & Charlie
The name Opal & Charlie reflects the rich diversity, beauty, and freedom in our hair and community. Opal, a gemstone revered for its brilliant range of colors, represents the rich textures and radiant diversity within our community. It reminds us that beauty is multifaceted — it shines in every shade, every strand, and every hue. Charlie, a name that means free person, honors our ancestors. It speaks to our collective heritage and affirms the freedom to define beauty for ourselves — with pride, power, and presence.
Together, Opal & Charlie is a celebration of natural beauty, heritage, texture diversity, and the freedom to be seen, on our own terms. Our name is our essence, and it is how we see ourselves and our community – Black, Beautiful, and Free.

Every product we offer is meant to empower women who want to protect their natural hair while maintaining their natural look.
We're specific about every bundle
-
Origin: Southeast Asian Hair
All Opal & Charlie hair is sourced from a single donor per bundle – meaning every strand in your weft came from the same person's head. No mixed cuticle directions. No tangling from mismatched strands.
-
Virgin quality – intact cuticles, minimal processing
Steam treatments – not chemical processing – are used to achieve the hair's texture. This means the hair smells like hair, and nothing else. And the cuticle (the outer layer of each strand) remains aligned and intact, rather than stripped and coated with silicone.
-
Triple-drawn construction – what it actually means
Triple-drawn, also known as Super Double Drawn, means the hair has been combed through three times to remove shorter strands at each pass, resulting in a bundle with at least 80 percent of strands in the same length. Full from the wefts to the ends.
-
Machine double weft construction
Each bundle is constructed by placing together two tracks of hair, sewn by a machine into a single, reinforced strip, resulting in a thicker, denser, more durable weft.

What type of hair is it made from?
All of our hair is made from premium quality virgin hair that has been ethically sourced from the most reputable suppliers. We do not use any classification systems (Brazilian, Peruvian, Malaysian, etc.) or grading systems (9A, 10A, 11A etc.) because those are marketing tactics that do not tell anything about the quality or source of the hair. Instead, we work with our suppliers to source the highest quality hair from all across Asia.
What colors are available?
Our hair comes in its natural virgin color, which is closest to 1B natural black.
What types of hair extensions do you offer?
We offer hair extensions in wefted bundles and clip-in sets for a range of natural textures: Light Yaki Silk Press, Kinky Straight Blowout, 2B/2C Beach Waves, 3A/3B Curls, 3C/4A Coil Curls, and 4C Coils.
