Built for women who prioritize their natural hair health.
We built Opal & Charlie so Black women can wear the looks that never go out of rotation — without compromising the natural hair growing underneath.
Hair shouldn't feel like a second job.
Your hair already has a routine. You know what works — the products, the heat settings, how long it takes. The right extensions should fit into your routine, not add to it.
But when the texture doesn’t match, it becomes another thing to manage. And when the blend isn't right, you make up for it with heat. That heat lands on the natural hair you're trying to grow and protect.
Extensions that take the heat so your hair doesn't have to.
We built Opal & Charlie for women who want to protect their natural hair and still look like the best version of themselves. When your extensions match your texture, you stop chasing the blend — and the hair you're growing underneath doesn’t pay the price.
Our name carries how we see our community of Black women. Opal — a gemstone known for its brilliant range of colors, represents the way Black hair holds every texture and expression. Charlie, the name of our founder’s grandmother, means “free person” — the freedom to define beauty on our own terms. Together, Opal & Charlie represents how we see each other: Black, Beautiful, and Free.
Extensions should blend seamlessly with your natural hair — without the need for daily heat styling. We design textures so you can look and feel like the best version of yourself.
Extensions are a real investment of money, time, and care. We take that seriously — which is why we start with single-donor, triple-drawn hair, priced honestly. High quality doesn’t require a luxury markup.
For us, extensions are more than a look. They’re how we protect and grow our natural hair. We design textures that work with the hair underneath and support your natural hair journey.
We're specific about what goes in every bundle.
Hair extension brands use vague language — "premium," "virgin," "100% human hair" without any of those terms meaning a consistent thing. Here's exactly what we mean.
Single-donor, Southeast Asian hair
All Opal & Charlie hair is sourced from a single donor per bundle — meaning every strand in your weft came from the same person's head. Multi-donor hair blends strands with different cuticle directions, which causes tangling and faster degradation. Single-donor doesn't.
Triple-drawn — what it actually means
"Triple-drawn" means the hair has been combed through three times to remove shorter strands at each pass. The result: a bundle that's full all the way to the ends. Most bundles are noticeably thinner at the ends — not ours.
Intact cuticles, no chemical processing
The cuticles are aligned and kept intact — never stripped or coated with silicone. Our textures are set with steam, not chemicals, which is how the hair holds its shape, washes well, and lasts without excessive tangling or shedding.
The heat test — styles like your own
Our hair is heat-safe up to 450°F and responds to heat the same way your natural hair does — curl it, straighten it, restyle it. The texture holds. The blend remains.
""We built Opal & Charlie around one belief — that protecting your natural hair and loving the way you look aren't a trade-off. They never should have been.""
— Opal & Charlie
